Frequently Asked Questions...
How involved will I be with designing my website? Do I just hand you a pile of stuff and you run with it?
This is YOUR website, and my goal is to communicate effectively with you so that we end up with a great site design. I will gather as much info from you as I can, we'll talk about samples and exchange feedback, and I will show you the test site for you to explore and revise before we go live. Every client is different. Some people might want to have a meeting every other day, every week, and some people want to just hand the whole thing over until the very end. It is up to you. We will work together to figure out our optimal working relationship.

How long does it take for you to get my website up and running?
Once we have our initial meeting to talk about the sort of website you are looking for, we can discuss timelines. For example, a 5-page test site can come together within a week or two (depending on what we agree upon mutually), but only if you provide everything that is needed for your end of the bargain: logos, copy, images, etc.
Once the design is approved, it is a quick process to set up your domain and hosting and get your website online! (back to top)
I've already got a website, but I'm not happy with it. Can you take a look at it?
Send me the link to your website and I'll take a look at it for you. I will email you back some thoughts about ways to modify your site. We can talk about ways to improve your search engine rankings (so potential customers can find you!), or ideas to clean up layout. (back to top)
What if I don't have a logo or any photos? Will you create content for my site?
For an additional fee, I can provide photography services and/or stock photography. I can also write original content for your site (also an additional fee) that you will own all copyrights to upon completion (i.e. you can use the content from your website to generate new promotional materials for yourself). I really want to be able to make changes to my site after it is launched. Is this possible?
I recommend an Adobe product called Contribute for clients who would like to make their own changes to their site. You will need to meet certain system requirements in order to use Contribute, but it is very user-friendly and straightforward. You can add new text, links, images, video...without having to know code. (back to top)
Do I really need a website?
You may be denying a lot of business for yourself if you don't have a website. These days, people are heading to their computer instead of the telephone book to find what they need.
Having a website is now a basic need for every company, just like having a telephone number. Ask yourself this: do your competitors have websites? (back to top)
I've seen really cheap online website companies that only charge $99 for a website...what's up with that?
Those are generally template companies. You input the data, and their software plugs it into a pre-made professionally-designed templates. They aren't generally able to give you any direction as to whether your ideas for your pages are logical or not. It generally means that a lot more responsibility will fall on your own shoulders for creating a functioning site, which is wonderful if you are a do-it-yourself type. You'll also run the risk of getting a website that doesn't stand out.
Be wary of template sites that don't allow your website to grow. Growth is a natural part of a website, and the design must allow for it. A lot of budget websites may offer lots of images and fancy animations, while a clean look is often the product of deliberate planning. The easier a client can find their way around your site, the better the functionality.
Just because you CAN make your logo spin and blink, doesn't mean you SHOULD! (back to top)
Do you do design work with mainland companies and individuals?
Of course! As long as we have email, internet and telephone, it is easy to work remotely. (back to top)
